The money was collected through the tireless efforts of the management, staff and communities of Kavanagh’s SuperValu Westport, Castlebar, Claremorris and Kiltimagh. The significant donation will fund the purchase of the site for the new hospice care facility in Castlebar.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TD, has confirmed that the planning application is to proceed for a new Mayo Roscommon Hospice facility in Castlebar. The new 14 bed facility, which is to be located at Knockaphunta in Castlebar will also provide a day care service, a base for the Hospice home-care team and accommodation for families who wish to remain overnight and is to be developed in conjunction with the HSE.

A fundraising cycle (100k & 50K) in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice takes place on Saturday September 27 commencing at The Hospice Shop, SuperValu car park, Castlebar at 11am and a family fun cycle will take off at 2pm.
